Essential Oil Extraction

An essential oil is essential in the sense that it contains the essence of the plant’s fragrance; the
characteristic fragrance of the plant from which it is derived.

to Rosemary oil, Lemon Eucalyptus oil, Lavender oil, Oregano oil, Cedar/ cypress/ cedar
wood oil, Citronella oil, Lemon grass oil, Clove oil, Cinnamon oil, Holy basil, Pepper mint
oil, Lemon oil, Orange oil, Frankincense oil, Ginger oil, Tea tree oil among others.

At Novel Biotech, essential oils are extracted by distillation method, often by using steam.
Other processes include expression, solvent extraction, absolute oil extraction, resin tapping
and wax embedding. They are used as medicine for; ulcers, diabetes, high blood pressure,
prostate enlargements, UTI’s, allergies, fevers, sinusitis, fibroids, immune and brain boosting
among others, in perfumes, Mosquito repellants, cosmetics, soaps, air fresheners and other
products, for flavoring food and drink, and for adding scents to incense and household
cleaning products.

Essential oils are often used for aromatherapy, a form of alternative medicine in which healing
